Hot Dog by Hiromi Suzuki

Originally part of the 23 posters campaign for Earth Hour, the first infographic in Hiromi Suzuki’s anti-meat triptych names and shames the hot dog for its environmental damage.

“When we think about the causes of pollution, we tend to think about things like planes and cars and power stations. No-one ever thinks about meat, despite it being one of the biggest polluters out there. So we need to cut back, however delicious it is.”

Why?

A whopping 20 billion hot dogs are enjoyed by Americans every year. If we knew how much hot dogs are damaging the planet we would probably cut back, but if we saw how they are made we wouldn’t go near one ever again.

How?

Convert an urban space into a community vegetable garden. This inspiring story of a successful project in north London just goes to show how rewarding going easy on the meat can be.
