Four Seasons by Carina Dewhurst

Illustration graduate Carina Dewhurst has delicately painted a map of seasonal produce that tells us what time of the year we can enjoy fruit and veg without it being flown around the world just to get to our plates.

“Each season brings something special and new and has inspired many,” says Carina. “It also brings new harvest! This image has been inspired by the famous classical ‘Four Seasons’ by Italian composer Vivaldi, each season having their own iconic melody. The fruit and vegetables are constructed to resemble the music notes for their seasons music.”

Why?

We often forget that the mangetout we buy in the supermarket has journeyed from Zambia and that the babycorn has trekked over from Thailand. In summer they are grown closer to home, which chops out the plateful of greenhouse gases their transportation puts into the atmosphere.
