Less Waste, More Christmas

Getting crafty for Christmas

To bring in the festive cheer this year, we have taken on our own challenge and have decided to have a go at making the Christmas poster.  Armed with recycled scrap paper and pritt-stick, we launched our festive attack, squabbling over who will be taking home what (the santa-hat-pencil-top has caused some heated discussion).

The Christmas tree is first out of the gate with some deft scalpel wielding from team member Lizzie. A word of caution for those of you trying this at home, (please beware any sharp points; we have learnt the hard way). Perfect for tables everywhere, this green delight will brighten up any and all surfaces.

What would Christmas be without spirit rousing game sessions? Cluedo, Monopoly, and Risk fill the integral parts of the day that aren’t food based. A sure fire way to avert disaster is to be armed with spare dice. Bringing us to exhibit B; one perfectly formed die.

I have never seen a Christmas tree that couldn’t do with more decorations and here is a relatively carbon-footprint-free decorative option; some carefully carved baubles ready and raring to adorn your tree/festive centre piece. Along with mini paper chains to keep little hands busy. Please note our addition of some ribbon upcycled from discarded food packaging.

However prepared you might be for the big day, there is bound to be a little mind slipping, so here is your very own festive final countdown list, for all those last minute bits and bobs. To prevent any missing present meltdowns, we have furnished you with a set of present tags for some seriously pragmatic labelling.

Last, but by no means least, the highly coveted santa-hat-pencil-topper, for which a team wide sharing system had to be set up, it will be all mine for the second week next February. From everyone here at DTGT, we wish you good cheer this Christmas and hope this can give you some inspiration to take to the pritt-stick rather than buying extras you might not need. Handmade to heal the planet.
