Design a light switch and save the planet

DTGT and WWF-UK have teamed up ahead of Earth Hour on 28th March 2015 and are running a competition for young (16-25) creative talents around the country to design a light switch. The winning design will be chosen to headline the ’15 Everyday Things’ campaign in March 2015, in which objects designed by renowned creatives will be showcased to inspire millions around the world to live a more sustainable life.

This is your moment to inspire the world to live a more thoughtful and less consumptive way of life, and all it takes is a bit of creativity. The winning design will be seen by millions of people online and in print across the country.

Last March, Do The Green Thing and WWF-UK inspired 30 million around the world with 29 posters from 29 world class designers, artists, illustrators and photographers in the run up to Earth Hour 2014. They included Sir Paul Smith, Sir Quentin Blake, Rankin, Neville Brody, David Shrigley and others. See last years winner here. Working in partnership again for 2015, they are hoping to inspire even more people around the world this year with ’15 Everyday Things’ which will culminate with the winning light switch design on 28th March.

The prize

The competition winner will have their design featured across WWF-UK’s and DTGT’s media channels on the day of Earth Hour.

Your design will be part of a concerted PR strategy around Earth Hour, placed alongside a selection of the top artists and designers. The design will also be showcased as part of an exhibition and may be offered as part of an auction to raise funds for the campaign. WWF and DTGT will also consider a limited production run of the light switch cover to be sold through WWF’s shop with proceeds going back to the charities. This will be decided at WWF and DTGT’s discretion.

The winning entrant will also be invited to Pentagram’s London office for a one week internship.
