With ‘Man of Steel’ currently flying high at the top of the box office, Superman’s immense solar-fuelled flight powers got Hong Kong graphic designer Hamlet Auyeung thinking about travelling green this summer.

“Being a super hero is easy – you just have to think twice about your decision. For example, try an alternative method of transport over airplane when planning your holiday. You don’t need a super hero to save the world, because you are one.

The poster is a simple information graphic, helping you understand how to contribute to saving the world from global warming. I have turned a basic icon into Superman by adding the signature red shorts – as easy as turning yourself into the super hero you’d love to be.”

Why?

According to EcoPassenger, the carbon footprint of flying from London to Paris is almost five times greater than taking the Eurostar train and takes the same length of time. Furthermore, if you fly first class the carbon footprint could be as much as nine timesgreater than flying economy. That puts things into perspective.

How?

Mark Smith, AKA The Man in Seat Sixty-One, will help you steer clear of air travel. His site is devoted to giving carbon-conscious travellers up-to-date information on ferry and train travel worldwide.
