Carbon saved by getting a gadget to keep an eye on your machines

There are an increasing number of products on the market to help keep an eye on your energy consumption, and also helpfully automatically turn off your appliances from standby. Getting one may save you anything up to 25% off your electricity bill, as well as the carbon emissions that go with it, so is definitely a worthwhile investment.

Carbon saved by getting a gadget to monitor your energy use, or turn your appliances off standby:

Around 400 kWh are wasted each year from devices and gadgets left on standby, or chargers left plugged in. 1 Using our grid electricity conversion factor of 0.527 kg CO2 per kWh 2 , this translates to CO2 emissions of:
400 x 0.527 = 210.8 kg CO2 per year or

= 0.58 kg CO2 per day.
